Greetings Sir Knights,

Summer is flying by and we are busy once again.  You find the slate of the new Officers below.  Please make a note of the new Officers, and feel free to contact any Officer with your concerns.  I am looking forward to a year of building relationships, and hopefully a year of growth.  We are going to build on the past and try new things, trying to expand on the successes, and minimize the failures.

Special Event Notes

Two events I would like to draw special attention to are the Assembly Officers Installation on July 29, and the Hennepin Provincial meeting September 29^th through October 1^st.  Please try to make it to both events.

Congratulations to Sir Knights.

Congratulations are due to S.K. Joseph Guarino upon his election to the position of Faithful Pilot.  Additional congratulations are due on the Supreme Council’s appointment of S.K. Joe as Worthy Financial Secretary of Shrine Council.

We also extend congratulations to S.K. John Hundiak.  He was selected as the new Lieutenant Commander of the Color Corps.  His position will place him as LT Mathews right hand man, and allows us divide our Color Corp when needed to cover two concurrent assignments.  It has been announced that S.K. John Hundiak was selected to teach at the training sessions of the Hennepin Provincial Meeting.

Website coming!

One of the “new” things we are working on is starting a website to enhance the communication with the Sir Knights who have access to the internet.  We are going to continue to send out newsletters to those who are not on the internet in order to keep everyone informed.  Those who would like to receive electronic messages please e-mail me at johnasnyder@wowway.com to add your addresses to our files, so that when we are ready to go online we are ready.  We are still working out the details.  S.K. Mark Palmer has been working on developing the Assembly website.  (What I have seen, the website is great, and going to be a wonderful addition to our communication.)

Sad Notes

On a sad note, in the past couple of weeks we have had 2 deaths.  Sir Knight John J. Kelly and Sir Knight Joseph K. Molnar.  Our Heartfelt Prayers and Condolences go out to the Families and Friends of our Brother Knights.  They surely will be missed.

Call for Contact Information

It was noticed that we do not have a good method of contacting our Brother Knights of short notice items, such as funeral notices.  To help alleviate this we would like to gather phone numbers and e-mail addresses in order to better serve our Assembly.  Please Call S.K. Bingo Concessions

S.K. Ed Ching, our Faithful Captain, is helping out by administering the Bingo Concessions.  We are looking into ways to make the venture more profitable.  We still need more people to help (Does not have to be Sir Knights only).  Many hands lighten the load, and we don’t want to overburden anyone.  Please contact Ed at 248-217-1930 or at solonus110@yahoo.com .

Fund Raising alternatives?

At the last Assembly meeting, there was a discussion about expanding our scope of fund raising.  S.K. Don White suggested organizing a tour of the northern casinos and bus extravaganza.  He further agreed to check further into it and report back at the next Assembly meeting.

We are looking for other ways and methods of fund raising to supplement our Bingo Concessions.  As it stands right now, we have all of our financial eggs in one basket, and that basket is marginally meeting the Assembly’s financial needs.  It is time to start investigating other avenues of raising money for the Assembly.

Assembly growing!!

The newly formed Council at Saint Mary of the Hills was assigned to

Saint John Neumann Assembly.  It was then reassigned to Bishop Gallagher Assembly, momentary; then reassigned to Neumann Assembly.  The Grand Knight, District Deputy, and Faithful Navigator all wrote a letter to the Master. 

It is now official (and hopefully permanent) that Saint Mary of the Hills has been assigned to Bishop Gallagher Assembly.

As it stands now we have the following nine Councils and twelve Parishes in Bishop Gallagher Assembly:  1) Bishop Gallagher Council, which serves Saint James and Saint Mary of Royal Oak Parishes.  2) Father Baumgartner Council which serves Saint Andrews, Saint Ireneaus and Saint John Fisher Parishes. 

3) Father Lynch Council, which serves Guardian Angels Parish.  4) Holy Name Council.  5) National Shrine of the Little Flower Council.  6) Saint Anastasia Council.  7) Saint Mary of the Hills Council.  8) Saint Owen Council. 

9) Saint Patrick Council.
